Very rare and unusual form (unable to find anything similar) this fun and functional crank handle mechanical apple peeler works great and mounts easily to table or counter. With 1869 and 1871 patent dates the form works like new - spin the handle and the cutter slides along the coil spring until it kicks loose when finished - slide it back and start the next apple. Exceedingly rare form for use or decor. FUN FACT THIS ITEM WAS BOUGHT FROM AN ESTATE SALE AT THE HISTORIC HOME OF HENRY FORD IN DETROIT - IT MAY HAVE PEELED APPLES FOR HIS STAFF OF COOKS Measures: 10.5" x 7" x 4.5" deep - all parts move smoothly - 1869 and 1871 patent date D H Whittemore of Worcester Mass along shaft - patina and stains from age and use but all parts move smoothly as designed. very minor cosmetic rust - Can mount to surfaces up to 1.25" thick.
